Located in Rio Vista, Fort Lauderdale, this private residence explores the relationship between privacy, enclosure, and expansive, naturally lit spaces.

Situated between a commercial shopping center on one side and a residential neighborhood on the other, the project responds to these contrasting surroundings through subtle shifts in the prescribed zoning envelope. Toward the commercial edge, the house is introverted and largely opaque. On the opposite side, its volumes open toward a generous garden and terrace, creating balconies and a series of interconnected living spaces.

From the street, the house presents a monolithic, sculptural, almost ruin-like character. Its layered volumes and restrained openings establish a sense of permanence and enclosure, shielding the domestic environment from the activity of the adjacent highway and commercial center. Beyond this protective exterior, the house unfolds into a sequence of expansive interiors organized around double-height voids and lush gardens, revealing an open and layered domestic landscape in contrast to its quiet, solid exterior.
